I found this wonderful blog by Nina Paley through Pharyngula today. Sita Sings the Blues is a fresh new look at the Ramayana from Sita’s perspective. It has been a wonderful couple of hours going through all of her cartoons. I particularly love the dance routines between Rama and Sita.

What in Ravana’s name is the demon looking at?
Apart from the Ramayan remix, Nina’s best work by far is Fetch (quicktime movie). It’s all about the perspective, don’t lose it!
Fantastic work!

America’s best-loved unknown cartoonist
Nina Paley. It’s the sort of reinterpretation of culture that is mind-blowing. Sitayana is a load of fun, especially the dancing skeleton ( Chapter 1 - Dandaka Dharma. Is that Shiva?). [via Kyun]
